BJP demands Kharge’s apology over remarks on PM's father

Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP on Monday protested in the city, demanding an apology from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his alleged remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father. The party functionaries claimed Kharge’s statement had crossed the boundaries of political decorum by referring to Prime Minister’s father and described it as unacceptable. They alleged that the comment reflected the Congress leadership’s frustration and urged Kharge to withdraw the remark and apologise publicly.A protest march was taken out from the BJP state headquarters to Master Canteen Square, where the party workers demonstrated against Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Protesters raised slogans criticising Congress and burnt effigies of the two leaders.BJP said political criticism should remain within the bounds of civility and accused Congress of resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing public issues.Hitting back, Congress state president Bhakta Charan Das said Prime Minister has failed to fulfil his promises. “…has no moral authority to disparage former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi, whose integrity and commitment to the people stand in stark contrast to his arrogance and empty promises,” Das posted on his official X handle.
