Srikant Jena seeks transparency on proposed Naraj AI data centre project

Bhubaneswar: Former Union minister Srikant Kumar Jena has sought greater transparency from the state govt over the proposed AI data centre project at Naraj, approved by the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) earlier this year. In a letter to chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Jena raised concerns over the project’s electricity and water requirements, employment potential and environmental impact. He alleged that key documents, including the MoU, agreements and detailed HLCA minutes, have not been made public. The former minister questioned how power and water would be sourced for the proposed 1 GW facility and sought disclosure of any incentives or concessions extended to the project. He also called for an independent environment impact assessment and urged the govt to place all project-related details in the public domain.
