Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ popular tight end, has had a record breaking performance in the new season so far. As he gears up for the Week 5 clash against the Los Angeles Chargers in the next few days, it seems one of Travis Kelce’s major investments might be taking a turn for the worse amid dozens of lawsuits filed against it.

Travis Kelce’s $200 million investment in Six Flags might be now heading towards a loss as he remains unbeatable on the field

In the last few days, there has been an uproar after a 42 year old man Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem fell to his death and several others were injured while riding the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia just outside Atlanta. The Kansas City Chiefs’ popular tight end had invested in Six Flags last year and the popular amusement park has now temporarily closed 10 rides in seven states after the tragic death which shook the nation. But that’s not all; in the last five years, safety records covering more than a dozen parks across three different states have revealed maintenance issues, including a train derailment, faulty restraint bars and guest injuries including dislocated joints and concussions.According to ABC News, Edward Pribonic, an amusement ride engineer and ride safety expert who has been an expert witness on behalf of plaintiffs suing Six Flags, said in an email, “There is always the possibility of mechanical failure in spite of following all the standards and other specific procedures developed by manufacturers and operators,”.Edward Pribonic added, “However, recurring safety incidents and mechanical failures usually point to a lack of attention to standards and manufacturer’s requirements for whatever reasons.”In California, the state law requires operators to report accidents “where maintenance, operation, or use of the permanent amusement ride results in a death or serious injury to any person unless the injury does not require medical service other than ordinary first aid.”In the last five years, since 2021, regulators in the state have reported nearly 300 accident reports from Six Flags parks.

Six Flags could be struggling with profits as Travis Kelce’s investment remains at major risk

While Six Flags have been struggling with accidents, ride closures and 100+ lawsuits, there have also been reports of the amusement park struggling with profits. As per reports, activist hedge fund, JANA Partners, whom Travis Kelce had teamed up with to invest in the amusement park, has reportedly urged Six Flags to explore sales to push up revenues. The amusement park has been making losses in the last few years which has only raised concern about its profitability and if it would be able to survive in the near future.
