Actor Selma Blair was arrested Sunday at John F Kennedy Airport in New York on allegations that she assaulted flight attendants on a Delta Air Lines flight. The Delta Air Lines flight 938 was parked at the gate when the incident allegedly happened. The flight reached JFK from Los Angeles. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the 54-year-old actor was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation. FBI was investigating the allegations against Blair.A Delta spokesperson said to US media that the airline “has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first”. The spokesperson added that Blair’s arrest did not affect the flight she and her fellow passengers were on – and that it still landed ahead of schedule at JFK.
What exactly happened on the flight
Several news outlets on Monday reported that Blair allegedly punched a flight attendant, bit another and tried to open the airplane door. Her publicist told the Hollywood Reporter: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is 1791837353 in stable condition.”TMZ reported that Selma has been charged with 2 counts of assault due to the alleged encounters with both the nurse and the officer.A pilot called for assistance during the flight in dispatch audio. “Could you pass on to the folks at JFK, we’d like to have some medical personnel at the gates for a couple of [flight attendants] involved in the passenger incident,” the pilot said in the recording, as cited by PageSix.“They just need to get a couple of things looked at,” he added. The pilot continued, “No ambulances. Just some medical personnel available for two flight attendants at the gate should be fine for that.”The pilot described the injuries as “A bloody nose as well as some bite marks.”The pilot then shared that the “disruptive passenger” had “bashed her head on the bulkhead” and would also need to be “potentially checked out as well as involved with law enforcement.”It was the second time Blair was reported to be involved in such an incident. In 2016, she reportedly began screaming uncontrollably before being removed on a stretcher while on a Los Angeles-bound flight from Cancún, Mexico. Blair apologized after the earlier episode, saying that she “mixed alcohol with medication”.“That caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret,” Blair said at the time.
