Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ popular quarterback, has remained focused on the field but his personal life seems to have taken a turn. Patrick Mahomes’ father, the MLB icon, has been involved in controversial legal trouble but it seems things have taken a new turn during the new season.

Patrick Mahomes’ father might attend some of his matches despite his probation

As per reports, Patrick Mahomes’ father has been cleared to attend upcoming Kansas City Chiefs games to be there for his oldest son and their family.According to court documents accessed by PEOPLE, a Texas court judge has approved Patrick Mahomes’ father’s request for permission to travel outside of the state amid his ongoing probation status following a 2024 DWI arrest.But that’s not all; the permission to travel to Cincinnati in December to attend a game of the Kansas City Chiefs was promptly denied by court. The reason for this is not known yet.For the unversed, around a month ago, Patrick Mahomes’ father submitted a motion ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders game in Smith County, Texas.Neither the Kansas City Chiefs’ popular quarterback Patrick Mahomes nor his family has made any comments about his father attending his games.For the unversed, Patrick Mahomes’ father had pleaded guilty in August 2024 to a felony driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge. This was his third such arrest following an arrest in February 2024 as that plea resulted in a sentence of five years of probation.Later, he was again arrested in February 2026 for violating his probation from a third degree felony DWI conviction.

Despite growing up pretty close to his father, the recent events had brought in cracks in his relationship with his father.In an episode on ESPN’s “Chiefs Kingdom”, Patrick Mahomes had opened up about his relationship with his father as he said, “It was during that Super Bowl. It became a story, and so, I had to answer questions about it. I think just knowing that it hurt me woke him up to know that like, you can’t keep doing the same things…”The three time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player’s father added, “For him to have to answer questions about me was probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever been through in my life,” Mahomes Sr. said in the episode. “I called him right after and I told him, I said, ‘I’m sorry that it’s taking away from your time and taking away from your focus.’ ”For now, Patrick Mahomes is eyeing a Super Bowl as he remains unbeatable.
