CBI arrests school principal for ‘bribery’

Bhubaneswar: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested principal of an Eklavya model residential school in Nuapada district for allegedly accepting Rs 12,000 bribe in exchange of recommending extension of service of a contractual health worker.“The accused, identified as C Krishna Murthy Naidu, was arrested in a trap operation after he allegedly accepted Rs 12,000 from a woman working as an auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) at the school,” a CBI statement stated.According to the CBI, a case was registered against Naidu on Wednesday following allegations that he had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for recommending the extension of her service tenure.“After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 12,000 from the complainant. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe,” the agency said. CBI officials said the trap was laid after verifying the complaint.
