Woman delivers baby at Bhubaneswar rly station
RPF staff and Meri Saheli team help the woman at Bhubaneswar railway station on Friday

Bhubaneswar: A 34-year-old woman delivered a girl on platform no. 4 of Bhubaneswar railway station on Friday after going into labour soon after alighting from Bangiriposhi-Puri Express, railway protection force (RPF) officers said on Saturday.Chandramani Bhoi of Bhoiguda in Koraput district was travelling on an unreserved ticket from Badamara to Bhubaneswar on the train no 18401. The train reached Bhubaneswar around 10.25 am. Minutes later, Bhoi developed severe labour pain, prompting an immediate response from the RPF personnel and members of Meri Saheli team, who assist women passengers and respond to emergencies across railway premises and trains.On-duty RPF head constable P C Mohanty noticed her condition around 10.45 am and alerted other officers. The women personnel assisted Bhoi, while other RPF staff cordoned off the area with cloth barriers to ensure privacy and safety.With the assistance of the women personnel, Bhoi gave birth to a healthy girl. RPF personnel then arranged transport and shifted the mother and newborn to Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, around 11.15 am. They were escorted by RPF staff. Bhoi’s husband was present at the hospital. Hospital authorities said both the mother and baby were stable and in good health.
