Berhampur: Police on Thursday arrested a driver of OSRTC for alleged sexual exploitation and extortion of a 30-year-old woman. The accused was identified as Tapas Sethi (36) of Sidheswara under Digapahandi police station limits in Ganjam district.Police said he worked as a driver at OSRTC, Berhampur.According to the complaint lodged in Bada Bazaar police station, the woman alleged that the accused developed a friendship with her in late-2023 on the promise of marriage and established a physical relationship over the past year. During that period, he secretly took her intimate photographs and videos.When she insisted on marriage, the accused refused and threatened to make the intimate photos and videos viral on social media and demanded Rs 5 lakh for deleting the same.Police said two mobile phones used to commit the crime, the clothes of the accused, his Aadhaar card, driving licence and other relevant documents have been seized from his possession.Police said the victim and witnesses were examined and statements were recorded.Both the complainant and the accused were sent to MKCG medical college and hospital, Berhampur for medico-legal examination. On finding prima facie evidence, police arrested the accused after observing all arrest formalities and Supreme Court guidelines, they said.
