Rourkela: The post-mortem of a woman who died following a honeybee attack in a forest under Sadar police limits in Sundargarh district on Sunday was conducted on Monday, after which the body was handed over to her family.Two others, including her husband, who sustained grievous injuries in the attack are undergoing treatment at Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital, police said on Monday.According to police, Mukund Bag (47), his wife Gitanjali Bag (37), Gurubari Naik (47) and her husband Sukanta Naik, all of Budabahal village under Sadar police station limits, had gone to a nearby forest on Sunday to graze cattle. While in the forest, Mukund, Gitanjali and Gurubari were allegedly attacked by a swarm of honeybees. As they fled, the swarm chased them and they were repeatedly stung.Gitanjali sustained grievous injuries, fell unconscious and died on the spot. Mukund and Gurubari also sustained serious injuries. Sukanta, who escaped, alerted villagers and called an ambulance. The injured were taken to Sundargarh DHH, where doctors declared Gitanjali brought dead and admitted Mukund and Gurubari. Gitanjali’s body was kept in the morgue.Police said officials reached the hospital on Sunday evening after receiving information and conducted an inquiry. An FIR was received on Sunday night and a case registered. “We have registered an unnatural death case and we are investigating,” said Soudamini Nag, inspector-in-charge, Sadar police station.
