We will make every effort to reach out to people, win their trust and strengthen their confidence in police. Citizens should feel comfortable approaching us. Our policing strategy will be guided by public feedback and community participation.Q: What steps will you take to improve police-public relations?A: We will neither shy away from the public nor scare them away. Citizens are our eyes and ears, and their cooperation is indispensable in maintaining law and order. I want to go one step beyond public expectations. Police stations will be encouraged to identify opportunities for regular engagement with residents, visit neighbourhoods frequently and participate in local programmes. We will also reach out to schools, colleges, offices and other institutions.Q: Your message for the personnel under your command?A: I strongly believe in teamwork. My message to all officers and personnel is simple — work together and perform to the best of your abilities. Good work and outstanding service will be recognised and appreciated. Effective policing is possible only when there is mutual trust and cooperation within the force.Q: How will you ensure transparency and accountability within the police force?A: I will closely supervise the functioning of personnel engaged in public service delivery. I expect every member of the force to discharge their duties with discipline, honesty and professionalism. Any evidence of misconduct, corruption or indiscipline will be dealt with firmly. If any citizen faces corruption or is asked for a bribe, I would encourage them to report the matter to the vigilance authorities.Q: How would you like citizens to assess your performance?A: Ultimately, public satisfaction and trust will be the most important indicators of our success. If citizens feel safer, more confident and comfortable approaching the police, I would consider that a significant achievement.Q: How will the city police respond to evolving crime patterns, particularly cybercrime and financial fraud?A: Policing is evolving with changing challenges. We will strengthen our focus on technology-driven investigations and preventive measures. Public awareness will play a crucial role in combating cybercrime and financial fraud.
