A few days ago, the LeBron James Family Foundation’s education wing, the I PROMISE School took to its social media to make a post that read as, “The start of the school year is right around the corner and @leaf_homeandblooms joined us at I Promise School for a professional development experience that offered our teachers a lesson that went far beyond flowers. 🙌”The post added, “As they created their own bouquets, they noticed that even the same flowers weren’t the same. Some had more thorns, some more greenery, and each needed different care. Our students are the same.”The post continued, “Each comes with their own strengths, challenges, needs, and unique ways of growing. Our teachers & staff do an incredible job learning how to continue to give them the care, support, and space they need to flourish.”

For close to a decade, the four time NBA champion’s foundation’s education wing, the I PROMISE School has worked extensively to improve education gaps for children coming from modest backgrounds in Akron.A lot of what LeBron James has worked on related to education comes from his own experience when he grew up in Akron.In an interview with ESPN, LeBron James reflected on his childhood as he said, “But any time that I would show up to school, it’s weird, the teachers would always tell my mom that when he shows up, he’s one of the best students that we have.”The four time NBA champion added, “We just hope that he can show up more. And we just couldn’t do it at that point and time. So I know exactly what a lot of these kids are going through.”Both LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, have remained committed to the cause and have raised millions of funds to help children across Akron.Apart from academics, LeBron James has also helped set up accessible healthcare in Akron while actively helping a number of communities through the LeBron James’ Family Foundation.With just a few more days left for the new season to begin, fans are gearing up to watch the NBA icon take the court for one last time.
