Rourkela: Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated with traditional fervour across the industrial belt of Sundargarh district on Thursday, with over 100 pandals coming up on the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) premises.The RSP pandals drew a large number of devotees for the darshan of Lord Vishwakarma — the deity associated with craftsmanship and industry.With the festival considered particularly significant in the technology-driven industrial complex, director in charge of RSP, Alok Verma, and other senior officials visited several puja pandals inside the plant and in the township.Later, Verma and others visited Deepika Hast Kargha, RSP’s handloom centre.Vishwakarma Puja was also celebrated in the industrial units at Kalunga Industrial Estate and various factories, workshops and mines across Sundargarh district.According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Vishwakarma, regarded as the gods’ architect, symbolises creativity, ingenuity and industry.
