Berhampur: Four persons, including the brother of former Berhampur mayor Siva Shankar Das, were arrested for allegedly planning criminal activists in the city on Tuesday. A pistol, four mobile phones, two motorcycles and over Rs 66,700 in cash were seized from them. The accused were identified as brother of former Berhampur mayor Chandra Sekhar Das alias Pinku (44) of Gosaninuagaon, Kailash Mohanty alias Budu (49) of Old Berhampur, Situn Sahu (25) of Balajipenth Sahi and Debashish Patro(30) of Gosaninuagaon.On receiving input regarding assembly of armed anti-socials for planning criminal activity, police raided the house where they had assembled at Gosaninuagaon main road in the presence of executive magistrate and arrested all four persons, police sources said. SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M said the crackdown against the anti-socials would continue in the city ahead of the festival. Former BeMC mayor Siva Shankar Das was arrested last year in connection with the murder of the senior advocate Pitabash Panda and is now lodged in Phulbani jail.
