He left his first university and started again
Irfan’s engineering journey began at SRM University Chennai, where he enrolled in a BTech Computer Science programme. However, he left the university after completing his first year.He later cleared JEE and secured admission to NIT Jalandhar, where he continued his engineering education in Information Technology. The decision meant starting over, but it eventually put him on a different trajectory.
The Apple opportunity that slipped away
The next major opportunity came during his second year. Irfan reportedly cracked an Apple internship in Bali, Indonesia.However, he could not join because of his college’s 75% attendance requirement, according to the account shared online. Missing an opportunity of that scale could easily have become a source of frustration. Instead, he continued building his technical profile.His experience included working on iOS development and developing skills in Swift and SwiftUI, while also gaining exposure through internships and projects.
A casual conversation opened another door
The Revolut opportunity came from an unlikely place.During a trip to Himachal Pradesh, Irfan reportedly met a Revolut employee at a hostel in Bir Billing. He already knew about the company and decided to ask her for a referral.That simple request eventually connected him with another employee at Revolut and helped him enter the recruitment process. He then had to do what a referral alone cannot do: clear the selection rounds.
Skills mattered beyond the resume
Irfan’s journey also highlights an important lesson for students chasing internships: technical ability may get attention, but it is rarely enough on its own.His preparation involved iOS development, projects, interview practice and communication. He has also spoken about the importance of being able to explain one’s work clearly and confidently.The reported Revolut internship pays around Rs 4.5 lakh per month. For a two-month stint, that would amount to roughly Rs 9 lakh.
