Berhampur: Police on Tuesday claimed to have foiled an attempt to illegally transport a large consignment of ganja by seizing over 375 kg, worth around Rs 38 lakh, from a forest area near Sialilata under Adava police station limits in Gajapati district.Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the forest area and detected 15 polythene bags containing ganja. Police suspected the contraband was concealed at an abandoned spot in the jungle and kept ready for transportation by unknown persons.A case was registered against unknown persons at Adava police station under various sections of the NDPS Act and an investigation was launched, police said. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved in storing and transporting the seized contraband in the forest area.
