Berhampur: A first-year MBBS student in MKCG Medical College here has reportedly been missing from the hostel for past two days, while police conducted an intensive search after registering a missing case at Baidyanathpur police station.Sagar Sahoo of Kaplai near Kuakhia in Jajpur district has been missing since Monday without appearing for his ongoing first part of the MBBS exam on Monday, sources said. He was last seen at the railway station here on Monday after talking with his parents on Sunday. Police have recovered his mobile phone from the station.SP (Berhampur) Saravana Vivek M said they have registered a missing man case at Baidyanathpur police station based on the report of the dean-cum-principal of the medical college, Hari Krishna Dalai. “We have verified the CCTV footage from the railway station and intimated it to other police stations,” he said, and added that the search was underway to locate him.The students’ union of the medical college circulated details of the missing student.Sources in the medical college said he appeared only for the first paper (anatomy) of the exam. Though he was coming near the exam hall, he could not appear for the second paper (physiology) on Monday. “We have been intimated this to the police. His parents have also come to Berhampur after the incident,” said the principal.Karunakar Sahoo, one of the relatives of the missing student, said he had spoken to him on Saturday and with his parents on Sunday. He wanted to go to the village Saturday night. His parents, however, advised him not to come home as his exam was in progress and the next exam was scheduled on Monday.Since he could not respond to his phone on Monday afternoon, his parents were worried and contacted one of his friends. His friend said he did not appear for the exam on Monday and did not return to the hostel.He said they have circulated his photo on social media and conducted intensive searches.
