CHSE sets Nov 30 deadline for CCTV compliance at Plus II exam centres
Odisha Council of Higher Secondary Education

Bhubaneswar: With CCTV surveillance already mandatory at examination centres, Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has renewed its compliance drive ahead of Annual Higher Secondary Examination (AHSE) 2027, setting Nov 30 as the deadline for affiliated institutions to ensure that surveillance systems are functional and connected for live monitoring. In a directive issued to principals and heads of affiliated higher secondary schools and colleges on Wednesday, CHSE warned that institutions failing to meet the prescribed requirements could lose their examination centre status for both theory and practical examinations. The council may also report defaulting institutions to the state govt for appropriate action. The directive reiterates the need to record activities inside exam halls, examination management hub (EMH) strong rooms, centre superintendents’ offices and laboratories of self-financing higher secondary schools. Live-streaming of these locations must be enabled to allow officials of CHSE, the school and mass education department and district collectorates to monitor exam-related activities round the clock during the exam period.Controller of examinations for CHSE Prasanta Kumar Parida said institutions have been asked to install cameras wherever these are yet to be provided and ensure that existing systems are fully operational. The systems must be tested and kept ready for use from the day question papers arrive at the strong rooms and from the first day of the examination. Schools that have applied to become new examination centres have also been asked to install CCTV cameras in their examination halls and the centre superintendent’s room.CHSE has further directed institutions that functioned as examination centres or EMHs during the 2026 exams, as well as those eligible to be designated as new centres, to keep the required equipment and connectivity in place.
