Bhubaneswar: Newly appointed Odisha BJP in-charge D Purandeswari on Saturday attended a key organisational meeting to review the party’s preparations for the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections. Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi was also present at the meeting chaired by state BJP president Manmohan Samal.On her first visit to Odisha after being reappointed to the post, Purandeswari said strengthening coordination between govt and the party organisation would be a priority.“I have been entrusted with the responsibility of Odisha in-charge for the second time. Priority will be given to maintaining coordination between govt and the organisation in the state. The party organisation will be made even stronger,” she said.Purandeswari arrived in Bhubaneswar along with newly appointed co-in-charge and BJP national secretary Swadesh Singh. The two leaders were accorded a warm welcome by party workers at the airport and later felicitated at the state BJP office.State general secretary Biranchi Narayan Tripathy said the deliberations focused on organisational activities, future plans and preparations for the panchayat and municipal elections. The meeting also reviewed activities under the month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, launched on Sept 17 on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, and discussed plans for the remaining programmes scheduled until Oct 17.During their two-day visit, Purandeswari and Singh are scheduled to participate in several programmes under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and attend a series of organisational meetings across the state, Tripathy added.
