GURGAON: Gurgaon Police on Tuesday arrested the accused car driver Kalyan Bainsla after adding an attempt-to-murder charge in the case involving a car allegedly hitting a woman biker on Golf Course Road.He was arrested after a detailed analysis of CCTV footage.Bainsla, a gym owner who describes himself as an international kabaddi player, said he was travelling with his sister and two cousins when the incident occurred.The case was registered at Sector 56 police station after a video of the incident went viral on social media on Monday, following which police took suo motu cognisance and launched an investigation.During the probe, investigators analysed CCTV footage from the area and, based on their findings, added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with attempt to murder, to the FIR, Gurgaon Police said.The provision carries a punishment of up to 10 years, according to the police.Gurgaon Police also issued a stern warning that any attempt to take the law into one’s own hands would not be tolerated.“Lawlessness will not be tolerated at any cost,” the police said, adding that it remained committed to taking strict action against those involved in such offences.“This incident has been unfolding since yesterday. He hit someone, left them on the road to die and drove away, yet he is still roaming around freely. He is giving soundbites to news reporters and presenting his side of the story, ” Sia said.According to Sia, one of the men was an acquaintance with whom she had gone on a couple of group rides, and his camera was recording when the incident took place.Sia said, “There were only boys in the car, as far as I could see. There were no women. I was heading to a biker’s cafe in Gurgaon. I don’t have a fixed group that I always ride with; sometimes I ride with my brother. Since others own the same bike model as mine, people in the biker community know each other and recognise each other’s bikes. That’s how they recognised me. One of them was someone I knew, with whom I had gone on a couple of group rides. His camera was on, and he recorded everything.”
