Saif Ali Khan says Kareena Kapoor makes family bonds effortless: Actor praises her equation with Sara and Ibrahim while revealing how his children share a close relationship

Blending two families can take time, understanding and effort from everyone involved. For Saif Ali Khan, however, the warmth within his family is something he feels grateful for. The actor recently opened up about the relationship between his wife Kareena Kapoor and his children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, crediting her for making the bond feel natural and comfortable.During a joint appearance with Kareena on the talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’, Saif spoke about how the family has built an understanding over the years. Rather than giving credit to just one person, he highlighted how everyone has contributed to making their relationships work. His comments also offered a glimpse into the equation shared by Sara and Ibrahim with their younger half-brothers, Taimur and Jehangir.

Parents, when your child refuses to greet relatives, do you make them say hello or respect their choice?

Saif says Kareena makes the family bond easier

When host Karan Johar asked Saif about family reunions and how everyone had adjusted to their relationships, the actor spoke warmly about the understanding shown by each family member. “Everyone has been really wonderful and understanding. And of course, I would credit Kareena and credit everyone because these things work both ways,” he said. He particularly praised Kareena for the way she treats Sara and Ibrahim, adding that the effort has been equally reciprocated by his older children.“And of course, she makes it easy and is wonderful with Sara and Ibrahim, and they also make an effort and reciprocate it,” Saif added. His response highlighted an important aspect of blended families: relationships are not built through one person’s efforts alone. Respect, acceptance and a willingness to make space for one another can help family members develop their own connections over time.

Taimur and Jehangir look up to their elder brother

The conversation also touched upon the relationship between Saif’s four children. Kareena shared that Taimur and Jehangir adore their elder brother Ibrahim and look up to him. Saif agreed, describing Ibrahim as a caring older brother who makes an effort to spend time with the younger boys. He recalled how Ibrahim visits their rooms, talks to them and shares a special equation with each of them.“He is also amazing with them. They love playing with him. Sometimes he comes over and he goes to their rooms and ask them questions and has his own equation with them. He’s a lovely boy for having that kind of equation,” the actor said. The interaction suggested that the siblings have developed a bond that goes beyond simply being part of the same extended family. Their relationship appears to have its own warmth and familiarity, with Ibrahim taking an active role as an elder brother. For Saif and Kareena, seeing their children share such a connection is clearly something they value.

Salman Khan’s family gave Saif an example to follow

Saif also spoke about the influence of another Bollywood family on his own approach to family life. During the conversation, he recalled being inspired by the close-knit atmosphere at Salman Khan’s home. He remembered how members of Salman’s family, including different generations, would come together around the dining table and spend time with one another. That sense of togetherness left an impression on Saif, who said he tried to create a similar environment in his own household. His observation offered another insight into how family traditions and everyday moments can shape relationships. For him, building a close family is not only about special occasions or reunions. It is also about creating an atmosphere where people feel comfortable spending time together.

A family shaped by different chapters

Saif married actor Amrita Singh in 1991, and the couple welcomed two children, Sara and Ibrahim. They separated in 2004. Years later, Saif found love with Kareena while working with her on the 2008 film *Tashan*. After dating for several years, the actors married in October 2012. They welcomed their first son, Taimur, in December 2016, followed by Jehangir in February 2021. Over the years, the family has often attracted attention for the way its members share occasions and maintain relationships. Saif’s recent comments offered a more personal perspective on what goes into making those bonds work. His praise for Kareena was not limited to her relationship with his older children. He also acknowledged that Sara and Ibrahim have made their own efforts to build a comfortable equation with her and their younger brothers. Ultimately, Saif’s message was simple: a family does not become close just because people are connected by marriage or blood. It takes understanding, mutual effort and the willingness to welcome one another. And, as he suggested, when everyone plays their part, those relationships can grow naturally.
