TIRUPATI: A tenth-grade female student sustained critical injuries after a jilted man attacked her with a chainsaw used for cutting trees inside the classroom Zilla Parishad high school in Raptadu mandal headquarters of Anantapur district.According to information, the accused entered the 10th classroom at the ZP high school with a chainsaw and launched an unprecedented attack on the victim identified as Gopika.Even as the fellow students were watching in horror, the accused cut the entire face of Gopika and also caused injuries on her head and back.Another student Lakshmi, who attempted to intervene and halt the assault was also injured in the incident.The accused, Hemanth, absconded away from the spot as Gopika remained in a pool of blood inside the classroom.He was later taken into custody by the police near Dharmavaram in Sri Sathya Sai district.Fellow students and teachers acted swiftly upon witnessing the attack and immediately alerted the local police. The victim was shifted by the school teachers and students to the nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.Police arrived at the scene, registered a case, and initiated a detailed investigation. Law enforcement authorities have intensified efforts and launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend the absconding suspect.The violent episode has left students, teachers, and parents in the area deeply shaken, instilling widespread fear and panic at the school.Preliminary investigation by the revealed that the accused was a distant relative of Gopika and had been harassing her for quite sometime.After Gopika reportedly warned him to stay away from her and that she would complain about his advances to her parents, the accused developed grudge on Gopika and eventually assaulted her severely inside the govt school classroom.Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep anguish and shock over the brutal attack on a Class 10 schoolgirl inside her classroom at the Zilla Parishad High School in Raptadu, Anantapur district, on Friday.The victim sustained severe injuries after an unidentified miscreant viciously attacked her with a chainsaw in broad daylight.Upon learning of the horrifying incident, the CM immediately contacted senior district and medical officials to review the student’s health condition and ensure she receives the best possible emergency treatment.Expressing outrage over the horrific assault, CM Naidu directed the police department to launch a swift investigation, track down the perpetrator without delay, and initiate stringent legal action to ensure maximum punishment for the culprit.
