'War or no war, our policies remain unchanged': Iran FM Araghchi amid fresh US strike fears

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran’s policies would remain unchanged whether or not war resumes, as growing fears of renewed US and Israeli strikes on Iran raise tensions across the Middle East.According to ISNA, Araghchi made the remarks on Sunday at the opening ceremony of the Martyr Seyyed Kamal Kharrazi Documentation Center and Museum in Tehran. His comments came after US President Donald Trump suggested that Washington could launch another attack on Iran, while also leaving open the possibility of a negotiated agreement.Addressing growing talk of renewed conflict, he said, “Today, talk of war is resurfacing again, but from now on, I am thinking about war; whether war happens or not, our policies remain in place.”“If there is any rationality, they will not try military action against Iran again,” Araghchi added, warning against another military operation against Tehran.Araghchi also warned that the Strait of Hormuz would not return to its previous state following the 40-day war, saying the conflict had fundamentally changed the regional security landscape, according to ISNA.“The Strait of Hormuz will not be the same as before the 40-day war,” he said, adding, “A new reality has taken hold in the region” and “Nothing will be like it was in the past.”Calling the conflict a turning point in regional history, Araghchi said, “The Ramadan War is a turning point in the region’s history; all security structures have been upended.” He added, “The end of this war must be across all fronts.”US President Donald Trump on Saturday suggested that an attack on Iran could take place soon, while also indicating the possibility of a negotiated agreement. According to ANI, Trump made the remarks while interacting with reporters after casting his ballot in Florida.Asked whether the United States would attack Iran, Trump said, “Do you really think I’d tell you that? Maybe tomorrow…There’s a possibility I will. There’s also a possibility we’ll have a nice, big, beautiful agreement.”Trump also defended his administration’s military campaign in West Asia, praising US forces and claiming that Iran had suffered significant military losses.
