The Chhattisgarh cabinet on Sunday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said.Addressing a press conference after chairing the cabinet meeting at his official residence in Civil Lines here, Sai said India’s role and stature on the global stage had expanded significantly under PM Modi’s leadership.“It is a historic milestone in an extraordinary journey guided by the principles of nation first, public service, good governance, welfare of the poor and upliftment of the last person,” he said.Sai also expressed gratitude to the Centre for extending support to Chhattisgarh through cooperative federalism, providing additional resources and helping deliver essential facilities such as housing, tap water, sanitation, ration, healthcare and clean cooking fuel to the last person.“Under Modi’s leadership, India’s growing diplomatic influence was reflected in its G20 presidency, effective role in BRICS, initiative to secure permanent membership for the African Union in the G20 and efforts to strengthen the voice of the Global South. The fact that 36 countries have conferred their highest civilian honours on Modi also underscores his global standing,” Sai said.Initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, International Yoga Day and the International Year of Millets had benefited states like Chhattisgarh as well, Sai said.From the COVID-19 pandemic to the global energy crisis, India had faced challenging circumstances with confidence, he said hailing Modi’s leadership.To contribute to Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, the Chhattisgarh government has prepared a roadmap titled ‘Chhattisgarh Anjor Vision 2047’, Sai said.Recalling Modi’s tenure as Gujarat chief minister, Sai said several governance initiatives involving technology, public engagement and result-oriented administration were introduced in the western state and subsequently adopted across the country.“Chhattisgarh, which was formed in 2000, also learnt from successful experiences of the Gujarat model during its initial years of development and made rapid progress. Welfare of the poor has remained central to Modi’s policies, with the impact visible in Chhattisgarh,” he said.Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 20.65 lakh houses in rural areas and 2.25 lakh houses in urban areas have been completed in the state. Of these, 11.78 lakh houses were constructed in the last three years, giving Chhattisgarh first rank in the country in the pace of construction, he said.“The PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme has directly benefited 26.57 lakh farmers in the state. The Centre increased states’ share in central taxes from 32 per cent to 42 per cent in the spirit of cooperative federalism. Chhattisgarh received Rs 3,46,806 crore as its share of central taxes over the past 12 years, 7.4 times the Rs 47,100 crore received during the 2004-2014 decade,” he said.Sai said one of the most significant achievements was the decisive end to the decades-old Naxal menace on March 31, 2026 through coordinated efforts by the Centre and state governments and the courage of security personnel.Chhattisgarh has received Rs 2,080 crore in special central assistance for eliminating Naxalism, he said.

Sai also cited India’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, and said surgical strikes, the Balakot airstrike and Operation Sindoor have demonstrated the country’s firm national resolve.The cabinet also granted permission to recruit former Agniveers against a total of 36 vacancies for the post of constable in the Home Department, he said.The state government has already made a provision for 10 per cent category-wise reservation for former Agniveers in these posts.The cabinet also approved a proposal to amend the Chhattisgarh Government Business (Allocation) Rules, changing the name of the ‘Tribal Development Department’ to the ‘Tribal Affairs Department’, he said.
