BJP MLC Parinay Fuke calls out Sanjay Dutt over his alleged “no longer feel peace in India” remark

NAGPUR: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has faced criticism over remarks he made while appearing on Shekhar Suman’s talk show Shekhar Tonite, which aired on Gandhi Jayanti.During the show, Dutt jokingly imagined himself as India’s prime minister for five minutes and addressed the nation in his popular Munna Bhai style. While discussing the current state of the country, he reportedly said that he no longer feels “peace” in the nation. His comments drew backlash on social media. Dutt later clarified that the remarks were part of a scripted, light-hearted conversation and were not intended to offend or disrespect anyone. However, the controversy is showing no signs of dying down.BJP MLC Parinay Fuke also criticised the actor’s comments. Speaking to news agency ANI, Fuke said, “Sanjay Dutt is not thinking straight; the effects of age are starting to show. He has launched several liquor brands, which might be taking a toll on him. Perhaps he finds peace in Pakistan or Yerawada Jail—if that is the case, he should simply go there…”Amid the controversy, Dutt posted a clarification on X, saying his comments were made in the context of a scripted conversation meant to be humorous.“I would like to clarify that it was never my intention to hurt, offend, or disrespect the sentiments of any individual, community, or institution,” Dutt said.He added that the spirit of his comments was similar to the humour and satire associated with his Munna Bhai films, particularly the idea of “Gandhigiri”, which he said promotes “love, warmth, togetherness, and goodwill”.Dutt said he was disappointed that his words were interpreted outside their intended context.(With ANI inputs)
