PATNA: An advocate was shot dead by some armed miscreants in Katihar district on Monday. The incident was captured on video and has now become a key piece of evidence in the murder investigation.The victim has been identified as advocate Guddu Ansari, 35, who practised at the Katihar court. He was shot dead around 9am near Patel Chowk in Kumhar Toli under Town police station.According to the footage, three youths can be seen surrounding Guddu near a staircase.One of them allegedly forces him to sit on the stairs before firing at his chest. After the shooting, the attackers are seen walking away from the spot without any apparent hurry.Guddu had reportedly gone to the market to purchase household items. As he climbed the staircase towards a shop near Patel Chowk, the three men stopped him and surrounded him. He was allegedly made to sit on the staircase before being shot.The lawyer collapsed immediately after being hit. Blood spilled onto the ground as people nearby rushed to the spot. Locals took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.The police are treating the viral live footage as an important piece of evidence. Investigators are working to identify the suspects seen in the footage and establish the role of each person involved.Police teams are also examining CCTV cameras installed at nearby shops and other locations to reconstruct the sequence of events and track the movements of the suspects before and after the shooting.Katihar SP Parichay Kumar said the victim was an advocate and was travelling on his scooter when he was allegedly attacked by criminals.He said, “At around 10.15am, a person named Guddu; Alimuddin Nasri, who was a lawyer by profession, was travelling on his scooter when some criminals killed him.”The SP said the CCTV footage available with the police showed four criminals in connection with the incident.He added that the police team had inspected the crime scene and that the local police station and senior officers reached the spot soon after receiving the information.“I am also here, and different teams are investigating the incident from every angle. We will try to solve the case within 24 hours and ensure the arrest of the criminals,” the SP said.A possible dispute linked to the court has emerged as one of the angles being examined, although police have not officially confirmed the motive.The victim’s family, meanwhile, has alleged that the murder was linked to an old dispute and has named one person in connection with the killing.Police are verifying the allegation and examining whether the accused had any connection with the murder.
