Berhampur: Altogether 76 different species were planted at 44 places under Berhampur forest circles to celebrate the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The plantation drive organised by the environment and forest department under Ek Ped Maa ka Naam 3.0 initiative involved local elected representatives, villagers, vana sarankshan samiti (VSS) members and schoolchildren, teachers and others.The plantations were taken up in eco-club schools, VSS sites and sacred places in different forest divisions of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Boudh districts, said Vishwanath Neelannavar, regional conservator of forests (RCCF), Berhampur. At each site, 76 species of saplings have been planted, he added. While the plantation was taken up at 304 sites across the state, 44 of them are in Berhampur forest circle, he said.
