Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar landed in controversy for his earlier remark calling Hindi a “national language”. The veteran actor has now apologized after the criticism it received on social media. He clarified that he meant to say Hindi was “one of the national languages” but used the wrong term during the promotions of his upcoming film ‘Original Monster’.
Shiva Rajkumar apologises for Hindi remark
According to a report by India Today, while speaking with the media, he shared that he got mixed up in one of the Indian languages. “I called Hindi the national language. It is one of the languages. Our language [Kannada] is important for us, always. I don’t know, I got confused with one of the Indian languages. I apologise, I did not know. Their language is Hindi, our language is Kannada, their language is important to them. Similarly our language is important to us,” Shiva Rajkumar said.

What led to the controversy was earlier Shiva Rajkumar was asked about speaking Hindi dialogues for the pan-India project, the actor had said, “Why? Hindi is my second language. I can speak Hindi. What did you think? It is an easy language, the national language. How would we not know it? We know it.”However, his comment led to a mixed reaction on the internet. Multiple social media users condemned for calling Hindi a “national language” by a section of internet users. Meanwhile, other fans also defended the actor.With his latest statement, Shiva Rajkumar has now acknowledged the confusion and made it clear that Kannada remains important to him. He also recognised that Hindi and other languages are important to their respective communities.
